Let's Get Started

An applicant interested in joining the Senior Employment Services of Sourcewise will start by calling (408) 350-3200, option 5. If you receive a voice mail, please leave a message stating that you are interested in job placement assistance. Our Senior Employment specialists will return your call within one business day.

A confidential preliminary interview will be conducted by telephone to determine if you are eligible to become a participant in Senior Employment Services.

General preliminary interview questions consist of the following:

  • Are you aged 55 or older?
  • Are you unemployed?
  • Do you reside in Santa Clara County?
  • Are you a veteran or the spouse of a veteran?
  • What is your household income for the last 6 months?

Additional information is requested regarding your mode of transportation, employment history, educational background and interests.

If you meet the preliminary eligibility requirements, a personal interview is scheduled with an intake representative. The applicant will be advised of any necessary documentation to provide at the in-person interview.

Applicants are asked to complete several tests. Our testing process assists in determining skill levels, aptitudes, and abilities for employment.

Once you are enrolled, you are a “SCSEP Participant!”

An Individual Employability Plan is developed for each candidate based on data collected from the interview and results. If there are any recruitment or enrollment openings, a training plan (on-job-training and/or classroom training) will be implemented for the newly enrolled SCSEP participant.

Homecare Aide Training Program

The Homecare Aide Training Program is designed to offer a formal, 60-hour classroom training course and is taught by a Registered Nurse and a certified CPR/First-Aid Instructor. The class shares the proper methods of caring for seniors and/or persons with disabilities.

Successful completion of the class results in qualification to be a trained Homecare Aide/Caregiver in the health care field. Job assistance and job referrals are provided upon graduation.

Some information to note with regard to the Homecare Aide Training Program:

  • We do not seek private entities looking for graduates and are not affiliated with any private;
  • If a graduate is referred to a private homecare service company, we do not receive a referral fee;
  • Graduates find employment as an independent provider or as an employee of a homecare service agency.
